Foundation Females

Meet the Foundation Females of Avalon

When people see a fabulous cria, they invariably will ask, "Who's the sire?" Equally important, and perhaps in some ways even more so, is the role of the dam (mother), who contributes 50% of the genetic material AND provides the nurturing and nutrition that get the cria off to a good start. We've taken care over the past 14 years to put together a herd of outstanding females. These girls bring to our breeding program diverse genetics, excellent conformation and fiber qualities, as well as the exceptional mothering abilities that we value. We present them below so that you can appreciate them, too, and for your reference as you review our sales list. And, the next time you see a cria you admire, remember to ask, "Who's the dam?"

Retirement of Our Grand Dams

It has finally become time for some of our special girls to enter retirement here on our farm.  In other cases we have had to say goodbye to females who have graced our lives with their presence and been a central part of our breeding program.  To all of these females we say "Thank You".  We are grateful for their years of service.

These females are shown below for reference purposes, and to recognize them for their contribution to the success of our breeding program over the years.
